The days before your flight
Check your name and documents
The name on your ticket must match your passport exactly. Check that your passport, visa and any permits are valid for the trip.
Know your baggage allowance
It is printed on your e-ticket. Weigh your bags at home so you do not pay extra at the airport.
Pack the cabin bag right
Liquids go in containers of up to 100 ml inside one clear resealable bag. Power banks and spare batteries go in the cabin bag, never in checked luggage.
Keep copies
Save photos of your passport, visa and ticket on your phone, and carry one paper copy separately.
At the airport, step by step
Most airlines advise reaching the airport about 3 hours before an international flight. Check your airline's advice.
Enter the terminal
Show your passport and ticket at the entrance.
Check in and drop your bags
Go to your airline's counter. You receive a boarding pass with your gate and boarding time. Keep the baggage tag receipt.
Immigration
Show your passport, boarding pass and visa. If you are going abroad for work, you also need your BMET clearance card.
Security check
Put your bag, phone, belt and metal items in the tray. Liquids and laptops may need to come out of the bag.
Go to the gate
Be at the gate before the boarding time printed on your pass. Gates close before departure.
On board
Find your seat, keep your passport with you, and fill in any arrival form the crew gives you.
Transit and arrival
In a transit airport, follow the "Transfer" signs to your next gate. At your destination, go through immigration, collect your bags and pass customs.
