Before you travel

Start 4–6 weeks before your flight.

1. Check your passport

   It should be valid for at least 6 months from your travel date, with blank pages. Renew it first if it is close to expiry.

2. Take the meningitis vaccine

   Saudi health rules require the meningococcal ACYW vaccine at least 10 days before you arrive. A conjugate vaccine is valid for 5 years and a polysaccharide vaccine for 3 years. Keep the certificate with your passport.

3. Get your Umrah visa

   Umrah visas are issued online through Nusuk and Umrah agencies. We apply for you as part of the package.

4. Install the Nusuk app

   You use it in Saudi Arabia to book the free permit to pray in Al-Rawdah in Madinah, and for other Umrah services.

5. Learn the steps of Umrah

   Attend your group's training session or read the steps below, and ask a scholar about anything you are unsure of.

Your journey, step by step

1. Leaving Bangladesh

   Reach the airport about 3 hours before your flight with your passport, visa copy, ticket and vaccine certificate. Men often put on Ihram at home or at the airport.

2. Ihram before the Miqat

   Flights from Bangladesh pass the Miqat before landing in Jeddah. Make your intention (niyyah) and be in Ihram before the plane crosses it. The crew usually announces it.

3. Arrival in Jeddah or Madinah

   After immigration and baggage, your group transport takes you to your hotel. Keep your hotel card and group leader's number with you.

4. Perform Umrah in Makkah

   Rest if you need to, then perform Umrah with your group (see the steps below).

5. Visit Madinah

   Pray in Masjid an-Nabawi. Book your Al-Rawdah permit in the Nusuk app before you go; the permit is free. Ziyarah tours visit Quba Mosque, Uhud and other places.

6. Return home

   Reconfirm your flight time with your group leader. Zamzam rules and allowances are set by the airline, so ask us before you pack it.

The steps of Umrah

A short overview. Follow your scholar and group guide for the detailed rulings.

1. Ihram and intention

   Enter the state of Ihram before the Miqat and make the intention for Umrah. Men wear two white unstitched sheets; women wear modest everyday clothes.

2. Talbiyah

   Recite the Talbiyah often from the time you enter Ihram until you start Tawaf.

3. Tawaf

   Walk around the Kaaba seven times, starting and ending at the Black Stone corner, keeping the Kaaba on your left.

4. Two rak'ahs and Zamzam

   Pray two rak'ahs after Tawaf, near Maqam Ibrahim if possible, then drink Zamzam water.

5. Sa'i

   Walk seven times between Safa and Marwah, starting at Safa and ending at Marwah.

6. Halq or Taqsir

   Men shave the head or shorten the hair; women cut a fingertip's length. Your Umrah is now complete and Ihram restrictions end.

Tips that make it easier

Hajj from Bangladesh

• Hajj registration is done through the Government of Bangladesh Hajj system, under the government or a licensed private agency.
• Registration opens months before Hajj and places are limited, so start early.
